Day Trips from Asuncion

Since the 1890s, Asunción residents have fled to 'San Ber' on weekends, trading city heat for lake air that smells of wet sand and blooming jasmine. The water glows silvery-green, masts clink in the breeze, and 1960s boardwalk cafés still pour icy tereré beneath tipa shade.
