Asunción's transport scene is built around three tiers: city buses (colectivos), ride-hailing apps, and taxis. Buses are the everyday workhorse, cheap, frequent, and the only way to reach most neighborhoods. But they run on cryptic route numbers rather than clear maps, so first-timers should download the Moovit app or ask the driver "¿Va a …?" before boarding. Ride-hailing (Uber, inDriver) is the middle ground: moderate cost, door-to-door, and you skip the language barrier of negotiating fares. Taxis are a splurge and plentiful downtown. Insist on the meter or agree on the price up front to avoid the classic airport-to-hotel "fixed" rate.
